The Foundation for Undergraduate Mathematicians (FUM) is the name of the Missouri S&T undergraduate math club. The group meets regularly throughout the semester on Thursday evenings. Typical meetings include activities such as problem-solving sessions, research presentations from faculty or department graduate students, information sessions and workshops, and other social events. Mathematics Competition Club: This club meets once a week to learn new techniques for solving challenging math problems. The club competes in two competitions every year. More information about the competitions are listed below.
William Lowell Putnam Competition - A national math contest for college students. Each year on the first Saturday in December, over 2,000 students spend six hours (in two sittings) trying to solve 12 problems. Here is a link to past Putnam problems.
Missouri Collegiate Mathematics Competition (MCMC) - A team event open to any college or university in the state of Missouri held on the Thursday and Friday prior to the annual Missouri section meeting of the Mathematical Association of America. Here is a link to past MCMC problems.
