The M.S. degree programs in applied mathematics with either mathematics or statistics emphasis have the flexibility to be used as a terminal degree tailored to meet specific needs such as industrial employment.  Students are encouraged to work with their major advisor to design their individual program of study.    Normally a terminal degree would include coursework outside of mathematics and statistics that targets the intended area of employment.
