Master of Science in Applied Mathematics with Emphasis in Mathematics

Students who select the Mathematics emphasis will concentrate on a curriculum that includes core areas in Mathematics and other electives. Two options, with and without thesis, are available.

 

Without Thesis

The program consists of a minimum of 33 hours of graduate credit over and above all prerequisites. At least nine semester hours of credit must be in lecture courses at the 400 level. It is recommended that at least six semester hours be devoted to courses outside the major department. The candidate must pass a final comprehensive examination that mainly covers mathematics courses. See the Graduate Catalog for more details.

With Thesis

The program consists of a minimum of 30 hours of graduate credit over and above all prerequisites.  At least six semester hours of credit must be in lecture courses at the 400 level. A minimum of six hours and a maximum of twelve hours must be devoted to graduate research (Math 490) toward the thesis. The thesis topic must be in an area of mathematics.  See the Graduate Catalog for more details.
